Application of mold water needle in mold processing
The mold water channeling needle(commonly referred to as"water needle","water barrier",or"buffer piece")is a precision cooling component in mold processing.It achieves precise cooling of deep areas of the mold through clever design of the cooling water flow channel.Especially in applications where high requirements are placed on product appearance,dimensional accuracy,and molding cycle(such as automotive,electronics,and medical device components),the reasonable design of the mold water channeling needle is an important indicator of mold design level and an indispensable part of achieving efficient and high-quality production.
Core(mold core)cooling:
This is the most typical application.After drilling a hole inside the raised part of the mold(such as the core),a water needle is inserted to form"jet cooling".The cooling water flows in from one end,passes through the interior of the water needle to the end of the water channel,and then flows out through the annular space between the water needle and the hole wall.This effectively cools the entire core,preventing uneven shrinkage,deformation,or surface defects of the product.
Deep rib(reinforcing rib)cooling:
The deep and thick rib positions on the product pose a challenge for heat dissipation,as they are prone to sink marks.By setting up small water channels and equipping them with micro water needles at the mold positions corresponding to the rib positions,targeted cooling enhancement can be achieved in these areas.
Cooling of the cylinder and ejector:
For the core barrel or large ejector pin enclosed within the work-in-process product,it is difficult for heat to dissipate.By installing a water channel inside the core barrel or ejector pin and adding a water pin,direct cooling can be achieved,reducing cooling time and minimizing deformation of the product after ejection.
Cooling near the hot runner system:
Around the hot nozzle(gate),efficient cooling is often required to balance the high temperature in the gate area and prevent flow or drawing.The use of water needles can achieve strong cooling in this narrow space.
The advantages of mold water needles in mold applications
Significantly enhancing cooling efficiency:By transitioning from"direct flow"to"wall-adhering circulation",the effective heat exchange area and water flow velocity(turbulence)are increased,resulting in a heat exchange efficiency several times higher than that of a needle-free water circuit.
Improve temperature uniformity:Make the temperature in the deep areas of the mold more consistent with that in the surface areas,reduce internal stress caused by temperature differences,and thereby reduce warping and deformation of the product.
Shorten the molding cycle:Faster cooling means that the product can be ejected earlier,directly improving production efficiency.
Improve product quality:Effectively eliminate defects such as sink marks,bubbles,and uneven surface gloss caused by localized overheating,and improve dimensional stability.
Design flexibility:It allows for effective internal cooling in areas where mold structure is constrained,such as elongated cores.
Installation of mold water sprinkler in mold processing
Fixed water needle:It is fixed to the mold core through an O-ring or threads,ensuring stable installation and good sealing.
Detachable water needle:Fixed by a pressure plate or connector,facilitating maintenance and cleaning of the water circuit.
Spiral water needle:With spiral grooves on its surface,it can guide the water flow to generate vortex,resulting in better heat transfer effect.
